Types of Testosterone Injections picture

Content Table

Testosterone injections are used in testosterone replacement therapy.

As they help relieve symptoms that come from low testosterone levels.

The process is simple and straightforward.

They are injected into the bloodstream directly.

Some do this beneath the skin; subcutaneously.

Others may inject them in muscle; intramuscularly.

Upon injection, synthetic testosterone raises levels of the hormone in the body to normal heights.  And in turn, helps relieve adverse side effects of natural testosterone deficiency.

These injections give a synthetic form of testosterone to the body to supplement natural production.  The aim being the return of testosterone to normal levels.

Testosterone injections come via more than one formulation.  Big ones being testosterone Cypionate, Enanthate, Propionate, and Undecanoate.

Which gets prescribed by a doctor varies on needs, health, and preferences.  Doctors also take current prescriptions and underlying health issues into account when choosing which is most suitable for treating testosterone deficiency in patients.

This involves putting patients under comprehensive medical evaluations (before and after starting testosterone) so symptoms – and testosterone levels – may be actively monitored.

What are the Different Testosterone Injections?

All testosterone injections aim to increase testosterone levels in the body.

Yet these medicines can slightly vary in the ways they work and take effect.

Review the types of testosterone injections below to choose a suitable one.

Cypionate

Sold under the brand name Depo-Testosterone, testosterone cypionate is a popular form of injectable testosterone.  It is best injected in muscle.  With the buttocks being the most common injection site; most people administer a Cypionate shot once to twice per month.

Cypionate injections can be overseen by a doctor, or a patient in the privacy of their home.

Suggested testosterone doses vary based on age and individual response to the medicine.

Though a typical testosterone cypionate dose ranges from fifty to four hundred milligrams.

Cypionate is an effective steroid that is used in medicine, but also in bodybuilding circles as it can build tons of lean mass in as little as six weeks.

Enanthate

This is another variety of injectable testosterone.  And quite a highly popular one at that.

It may be taken under the skin or intramuscularly via the gluteal muscle on the buttocks.

It is also sold as Xyosted, which is meant to be taken subcutaneously at 75mgs per week.

Enanthate can be found in generic forms too, many of which can be taken intramuscularly.

And like cypionate.  People often take it in similar doses at 50mg400mgfor each injection.

Although it is worth noting Enanthate breaks down in the body more slowly than Cypionate. But it has a greater range of medically approved applications when muscularly injected, so it is more commonly used.

It can treat issues like adolescent puberty and low testosterone in men (hypogonadism).

Enanthate is also an approved treatment for women who have metastatic breast cancer

In contrast.  Other injections.  Like Xyosted.  Are only for men who deal with low test levels.

But some athletes and bodybuilders have been known to use it for aesthetic reasons.  Like Jay Cutler; a four-time, Mr. Olympia winner who admittedly took enanthate multiple times.

And this says a lot as he had some of the most impressive muscles of any bodybuilder (and still does).  Test Enanthate can build significant strength too, and within a matter of weeks.

Undecanoate

Undecanoate is form of synthetic testosterone that is intramuscularly injected.

And by a licensed healthcare provider who administers it into the gluteal muscle.

What mainly differs this medicine from the ones above is the dose it gets taken at.

It is injected at larger doses with the typical Undecanoate shot being 750 milligrams.

But doses in clinical settings often start at 200mgs and gradually rise to this amount.

This grander dose is why the second injection is often taken four weeks after the first one.  With subsequent doses often being had once every ten weeks.  Bringing the total to about five shots annually.  This is far fewer than many steroids which get injected twice per week.

Propionate

Testosterone Propionate is another injectable testosterone.  And one that builds muscle and supports metabolic regulation.

It is more affordable than the ones listed above but is unpopular as big doses are routinely required.  Some may even need multiple daily shots as it releases testosterone very slowly

This can be insufficient for a person with severely low levels of testosterone.  Which is why some who take Propionate may discover they require more than just one injection per day.

How Should Testosterone Injections Be Stored?

All testosterone injections should be stored in a cool and dark, room temperature space.

Cypionate – Enanthate – and Propionate should never be exposed to moisture or sunlight.

Undecanoate is stored by healthcare professionals. As they are the ones to administer this testosterone variety, so you will not need to worry about storing it if this is the one you take.
